“แมลงภู่คำ” เป็นเครื่องรางของทางล้านนาได้รับมาจากทางพม่า เครื่องรางนี้ตามประวัติเคยพบอยู่บนเสลี่ยงพระเจ้าบุเรงนอง (ဘုရင့်နောင် ကျော်ထင်နော်ရထာ) ถือเป็นเครื่องรางที่คนสมัยโบราณให้ความนับถือและใช้กันตั้งแต่ระดับกษัตริย์จนถึงสามัญชนธรรมดา 

ทางวิชาสายพม่านับถือมากว่า เป็นสัตว์คู่บารมีของ “พระเจ้าบุเรงนองกะยอดินนรธา” บัลลังก์ที่บุเรงนองนั่งว่าราชการทั้งสองข้างจะแกะสลัก รูปพญาแมลงภู่คำ เฝ้าระวังรักษาอยู่ มีตำนานเล่าขานกันว่าบัลลังค์นี้เป็นบัลลังค์ที่ “พ่อครูโป๊ะโป๊ะอ่อง” ได้สร้างและบรรจุพญาแมลงภู่คำไว้ 8 คู่ หากบุเรงนองจะไปรบที่ใดจะนั่งบัญชาการ ณ บัลลังก์นี้ พลานุภาพของ “แมลงภู่คำ” จึงช่วยเกื้อหนุนค้ำคูนบุเรงนอง จนท่านได้รับสมญาณามที่เป็นตำนานว่า “ผู้ชนะ10ทิศ” ดังนั้นถือได้ว่าแมลงภู่คำเป็นสัตว์คู่บารมี ที่ช่วยบุเรงนองรักษาเมืองพม่าไว้

Emperor Insect Of Toungoo Dynasty.

“Golden Bumblebee” is the Lanna Kingdom amulet that originated from Myanmar. According to the history of Myanmar, this amulet was found in palanquin of “Bayinnaung Kyawhtin Nawrahta” (Burmese: ဘုရင့်နောင် ကျော်ထင်နော်ရထာ) . It is not amulet for the king only but, there are many classes of people believe in this amulet also.

“Golden Bumblebee” was praised by Burmese to be the majestic animal of Bayinnaung. Even the throne of Bayinnaung also has sculpture of Golden Bumblebee existed. Burmese said that Bo Bo Ong, the great magic teacher made 8 couples of Golden Bumblebee and placed inside the throne of Bayinnaung so, whenever Bayinnaung sits on his throne, he will always got the victory until he was others named as “The Wiiner Of 10 Directions.”

ทางพม่ามีตำนานบันทึกเรื่องราว เกี่ยวกับพญาแมลงภู่คำไว้อย่างงดงามว่า เป็นแมลงมงคลศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ที่ได้รับรัศมีทิพยโอภาส แห่งพระบรมศาสดาองค์สมเด็จพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้า ในครั้งที่พระองค์ทรงตรัสรู้บรรลุธรรมวิเศษแล้ว พญาแมลงภู่คำพากันบินไปยังป่าหิมพานต์ นำเอาดอกกาสะลองทิพย์มารองรัตนบัลลังก์ ถวายเป็นพุทธบูชา พระพุทธองค์จึงได้ตรัสเปล่งพุทธวาจาประสิทธิ์พร แก่พญาแมลงภู่นั้นว่า “เป็นสัตว์ที่ประเสริฐกว่าแมลงมีปีกทั้งหลาย”

The Insect That Was Blessed By Buddha.

According to the legend of Myanmar, it has a record about Golden Bumblebee that “Golden Bumblebee” is the holy insect that got the radiance of Buddha when he became enlightened because Golden Bumblebees flied to Himmapan forest and offered the tree jasmine flower to prop up Buddha’s throne to show their respect. Therefore, Buddha said and blessed to “Golden Bumblebee” that “You Are The Most Sublime Beyond Others Alar Insect At All.”
